Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that power is transient and his eventual victory is inevitable.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that Fubara made this bold declaration during a public address in Bonny, amid the ongoing political turbulence in Rivers State.

He asserted that no ruler or authority remains in power forever, emphasizing the importance of integrity and long-lasting impact during one’s time in leadership.

Fubara said he does not feel defeated or troubled by recent developments, noting that he remains firmly grounded in faith and self-assurance.

“Everybody will not appreciate your style, but when you know that what you are doing is right, you are sure that in 25 to 30 years, if placed in any box and asked a question, you can defend your action,” he said.

According to him, leadership should be measured by the legacies one leaves behind and not by the duration of time spent in power.

“No king lives forever, that’s the truth, and no authority lasts forever,” Fubara said.

“But what is important is that within the period you are in power, I wish you did wonderful things that would speak forever,” he added.

Fubara spoke passionately about accusations levied against him, insisting that he cannot pretend to be someone he is not.

He encouraged his supporters to remain steadfast, saying, “Just be strong — at times, you need to lose to win.”

The embattled governor stated that he has never considered himself a loser and remains focused on the greater picture.

“It’s when you attach life to things that it bothers you,” he noted, adding that his trust in God remains unshaken.

“I know that at the end of the day, our winning will come to us because we are standing on a solid rock,” he concluded.

Fubara’s remarks come amid his suspension following a political crisis that rocked the state earlier this year.

In March, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State and appointed a Sole Administrator, Ibok-Ete Ibas, to temporarily oversee the affairs of the state.

The six-month emergency rule followed a prolonged political standoff between Fubara and his predecessor, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The crisis has exposed deep fractures within the state’s political structure and raised questions about loyalty, governance, and federal intervention.

Fubara has since met with President Tinubu and Minister Wike on two occasions, in attempts aimed at reconciliation and restoring normalcy to Rivers politics.

Observers see his recent speech as a direct but measured message to his political opponents and supporters alike, reinforcing his resolve to reclaim political relevance.

Analysts believe his message also highlights the unpredictability of Nigerian politics and the dangers of overcentralizing power.

The Rivers crisis has drawn national attention, with civil society and legal experts questioning the constitutional basis for the emergency declaration and the appointment of a sole administrator.

Many in Rivers State and beyond continue to await the outcome of the political negotiations, even as Fubara’s camp maintains that justice and restoration are only a matter of time.

DDM will continue to follow developments in Rivers State as the political drama unfolds in the months ahead.
