The Rivers State Police Command has arraigned ten pro-Biafra agitators arrested during some of the demonstrations that resonated in the state.

The Rivers State Police Command has arraigned ten pro-Biafra agitators arrested during some of the demonstrations that resonated in the state.

This was disclosed in statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad K. Muhammad on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command.

The Rivers State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the ten suspected Pro Biafra protesters arrested between 16-18/01/2016 has on Wednesday 20/01/2016 been arraigned before Magistrate Courts 7 and 14 in Port Harcourt on two count charges of criminal conspiracy and treasonable felony.  

Hearing on the cases has been adjourned till 21/01/2016 and 28/01/2016 respectively while the presiding magistrates ordered for the suspects to be remanded in prison custody.

2. The suspects are Onu Ifeanyi ‘M’, Prince Onwazor ‘M’, Princewill Anyanywu ‘M’, Sunday Egbim ‘M’. Uzoma Onyegbu ‘M’, Chigozie Moses ‘M’, Chukwudi Enyidau ‘M’, Anthony Ochuel ‘M’ Enam David okon ‘M’ and Friady Nwahiri ‘M’.

3.     It would be recalled that the suspects were arrested while on their way to infiltrate Port Harcourt from neighbouring states with the intent to engage in a conduct likely to undermine public peace.

4.     The Command wishes to further  re-emphasize that it will not stand idly and allow any person or group of persons to violate the laws of country by engaging in conducts that are perilous to public peace and order as well as the lives and properties of other law abiding citizens, please.
