Senator Rochas Okorocha recently praised former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s leadership, highlighting his transformative national development initiatives and enduring legacy.

Meanwhile, his abrupt exit deals a major blow to party unity, given his strategic influence over recent gubernatorial outcomes.

The PDP aggressively strengthens its base through intensified reconciliation efforts, signaling unity ahead of critical negotiations.

Transitioning strategically, observers increasingly question Jandor’s next steps as doubts emerge about lasting consensus-building in fragile political alliances.

Speaking on Arise News on Wednesday, Okorocha reflected on Obasanjo’s presidency as the elder statesman celebrated his 88th birthday.

Okorocha actively recognized Obasanjo’s role in advancing Nigeria’s development, emphasizing his groundbreaking contributions to telecommunications modernization.

According to him, Obasanjo’s administration was instrumental in positioning Nigeria to embrace advancements in the global economy.

“Well, first let me just salute the great elder statesman, a former president of this great nation who has paid his dues and made his marks.

Obasanjo is such a unique man who knows what he wants and how to get it. There’s no doubt about his personality,” Okorocha stated.

The Senator praised Obasanjo’s ability to assemble a competent team, noting that the former President prioritized merit over personal preferences in selecting individuals to serve in his administration.

“He knows how to choose his lieutenants and those who work with him. He knows how to pick the best.

In fact, Obasanjo can pick somebody he doesn’t even like if he believes the person can do the job, just to take the credit,” Okorocha remarked.

Reflecting on Obasanjo’s vision, Okorocha described him as a leader who understood the importance of innovation and progress.

“As a President, he did well. He did well. And give it to him. As Nigeria’s president, he excelled by modernizing telecommunications and advancing computer technology to propel national development during his tenure.

Building on this momentum, his administration pioneered IT advancements and economic reforms that modernized Nigeria’s developmental framework.

Okorocha’s insights now underscore how visionary leadership and strategic governance remain vital for overcoming Nigeria’s persistent challenges.
