The Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, today, November 11, 2017, reportedly escaped assassination in Rivers State while on official tour to the State from Governor Nyesom Wike’s goons.

According to the Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC), the Dispatch Rider to Governor Wike pulled a pistol to shoot Rotimi Amaechi but missed his target.

Former governorship candidate in the state, Prince Tonye Princewill an associate to Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi was also an occupant of the same car with Amaechi.

According to the report, Amaechi’s ADC, Debiwari intervened to save him from further assassination attempt.

Speaking after the gory incident, Prince Tonye Princewill said:

“I am at a loss if this was not an assassination attempt on the Minister.

“Somebody should explain to me in a clearer sentence why did the Wike’s dispatch rider failed to stop the two security vehicles of the Minister which had already crossed but decided for whatever reasons to block the vehicle in which the Minister was driving?”

Princewill asked further: “Why did an attempt by Amaechi who was behind the steering to navigate his vehicle out of danger was accosted by two security men from the Governor’s convoy who had pulled out their pistol and gun to shoot him.

“Why did these men of darkness after realising that the vehicle that the Minister was driving was a Bullet Proof resorted to hitting the jeep with the butt of their guns and in the process broke the right driving mirror and attempted to break Amaechi’s windscreen and after which he pulled his pistol to kill Amaechi?”

After the incident, Rivers APC, in a press statement signed by Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, SSA Media and Public Affairs to Rivers APC Chairman, Dr Ibiamu Davies Ikanya, stated that his escort Team was physically assaulted by the CSO Government House, SP Promise Wosu and Governor Wike.

That incident took place after the purported failed attempt at Mr Amaechi along Trans Amadi road, Port Harcourt.

Chief Eze also claimed that the FSARS operatives on the Minister’s convoy was dislodged and forcefully disposed of one of their AK 47 Rifles.

The feud between Wike and Amaechi has been ongoing well before the 2015 general election when Amaechi was governor of the state and Wike was junior Minister of Education.

APC, therefore, requests for the immediate arrest and prosecution of SP Promise Wosu and all his men.

It also asked the Federal Government to quit playing with kid’s glove with Wike whom, it said “is a danger to the unity and peace of this nation”.
