Russia Responds to Trump’s 10-Day Ultimatum

Russia has responded to U.S. President Donald Trump’s latest ultimatum with a firm stance.
The Kremlin said on Tuesday, July 29, that Moscow remains committed to peace in Ukraine, despite Trump slashing his proposed ceasefire deadline from 50 days to just 10 or 12.
Trump had earlier declared that he is no longer interested in negotiating with Russian President Vladimir Putin, raising global concern over the stalled diplomatic efforts.
In a sharp statement, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Russia took note of Trump’s remarks but made clear that the “special military operation” in Ukraine would continue.
“We have taken note of President Trump’s statement yesterday. The SVO continues,” Peskov said, using Moscow’s term for its military action in Ukraine.
While acknowledging a noticeable slowdown in U.S.-Russia relations, Peskov added that Russia still hopes for renewed diplomatic momentum.
However, he noted that progress requires goodwill from both sides.
“We would like to see more dynamics. We are interested in this. But to move forward, impulses must come from both sides,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the violence in Ukraine shows no signs of slowing down. On Tuesday, several Russian strikes claimed more than two dozen lives.
Victims included a 23-year-old pregnant woman and at least 16 inmates who were killed in a single prison attack.
Despite the bloodshed, Peskov reiterated Moscow’s position. “Russia remains committed to the peace process to resolve the conflict around Ukraine and secure our interests,” he said.
Last week, fresh negotiations between Russia and Ukraine ended without major progress. The only concrete outcome was a mutual prisoner exchange.
Trump’s shorter deadline and growing frustration could reshape the fragile diplomatic landscape. Still, the Kremlin appears undeterred for now.
