Russia has warned Britain that it could face unspecified consequences over the supply of drones to Ukraine, alleging that British-made drones are being used to carry out attacks on targets inside Russian territory.
The warning was issued on Tuesday by the Russian Embassy in London in response to a report by The Times that British-made drones had been used in long-range strikes against Russia for the first time.
“London’s actions will inevitably carry consequences for which it will have to answer,” the embassy said in a statement.
It added that the deeper Britain became involved in the war and the more support it provided to Kyiv, the greater the consequences would be.
Ukraine has increasingly relied on long-range drones to target Russian military and strategic facilities, including oil refineries and logistics sites.
However, Britain’s Ministry of Defence did not confirm whether British-supplied drones were involved in the reported attacks.
In June, the UK announced plans to provide Ukraine with 150,000 drones by the end of 2026 as part of a £752 million ($996 million) military support package.
Reacting to Moscow’s warning, a spokesperson for the British Defence Ministry said the UK remained committed to supporting Ukraine.
“Britain stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine and we are committed to providing the equipment Ukraine needs to defend itself against Putin’s illegal invasion,” the spokesperson said.
Russia has repeatedly warned Britain and other Western countries against supplying military equipment to Ukraine, saying such support could increase the risk of a wider confrontation.
The latest warning comes as Ukraine continues to carry out long-range drone attacks against Russian territory, while Moscow maintains its military offensive against Kyiv.
