A Russian air strike on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, has killed a woman, injured three people and damaged residential and public infrastructure, according to the city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko.
The attack occurred overnight into Monday, October 19, 2026. It also hit a subway station on the left bank of the city and damaged a 25-storey residential building, Klitschko said in a statement on Telegram.
The mayor added that non-residential buildings and a medical facility were also affected by the strike.
A Reuters witness reported hearing explosions in Kyiv during the attack.
The strike left three other people injured, while emergency responders attended to the affected areas.
Images from the scene showed a rescuer beside the body of a resident killed in the missile attack.
The damage to the subway station and residential building has raised further concerns over the impact of continued Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure in the Ukrainian capital.
The attack came as Ukraine said the United States had resumed sharing critical intelligence to help it defend against Russian missile strikes following a brief ause.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the intelligence-sharing arrangement was important for warning the country about fast-moving missiles launched by Russia.
Zelenskyy also held talks with US peace envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner after their visit to Kyiv earlier this month.
The US administration has been working to broker an agreement to end the war, which began with Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
