Saudi Arabia bypasses Biden, backs Trump to end Gaza war
DDM News

Saudi Arabia has openly called on former U.S. President Donald Trump to take charge in ending the devastating Gaza war.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the Kingdom’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, made the plea during an interview reported by Al Jazeera on July 28, 2025.
The Saudi diplomat emphasized that America, especially under Trump’s leadership, remains a crucial force for peace in the Middle East.
Prince Faisal declared that the ongoing bloodshed and humanitarian crisis in Gaza require urgent and decisive U.S. intervention.
“I believe the involvement of the United States, particularly President Trump, can act as a catalyst to bring about an immediate ceasefire and long-term resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,” he said.
The Gaza war, now approaching its second year, has claimed thousands of lives and left millions trapped without adequate food, medicine, or electricity.
International outrage has grown over Israel’s sustained airstrikes and the tightening humanitarian blockade on Gaza.
Despite multiple diplomatic efforts led by Qatar, Egypt, and European nations, no lasting ceasefire has been achieved.
Saudi Arabia has grown visibly frustrated with the stalemate and is now seeking renewed American leadership.
“We remain close partners with the United States and deeply respect President Trump’s diplomatic skills,” Prince Faisal noted.
He added, “We have faith that Trump can rally the international community and pressure all parties into a peace deal.”
While Trump is not currently in office, his influence in the Middle East remains significant due to his previous role in brokering the Abraham Accords.
Observers believe the Saudi statement may also reflect Riyadh’s discontent with President Biden’s cautious approach to the Gaza crisis.
Trump himself has recently stated he would “gladly” assist in resolving the Gaza conflict “if the conditions are right.”
However, U.S. officials continue to accuse Hamas of undermining ceasefire discussions.
No major progress has been reported since the last round of negotiations in Qatar collapsed.
The Saudi appeal signals a shift in tone, possibly aimed at nudging the United States back into a leadership position in the region.
The question now is whether Trump will respond, and if Washington will reassert its role as mediator in one of the world’s most intractable conflicts.
Meanwhile, Gaza remains in ruins, and its people continue to suffer the consequences of diplomatic deadlock and political posturing.
