The wares seized by traders who goes against the laws of the state, will be donated to orphanages says Oyo State Government.
This assertion was made by, Mr. Isaac Ishola, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources in Oyo State.
According to him, wares seized from traders who flout environmental sanitation laws will be distributed to orphanages.
The Commissioner made the statement in Ibadan on Tuesday, while continuing; he said that street trading persisted because offenders were able to retrieve their wares after paying fines.
In a statement signed by his press Officer in the ministry, Mr Olusegun Adesoji, the government would do everything possible to ensure environmental cleanliness.
According to the statement, “The present administration places so much priority on healthy and hygienic environment as well as safety of lives and properties,’’
Mr Isaac Ishola, called for attitudinal change among residents, saying they should desist from waiting for government to enforce environmental laws.
He warned the street traders to move to the place allocated to them to trade their wares, they should move to Scout Camp Market he said.
He said that the full enforcement of environmental laws commenced on May 15 and would be observed in the morning and evening.
The commissioner also warned street traders at Challenge area of the metropolis to move to the Scout Camp Market.
