A dramatic scene unfolded in the Nigerian Senate on Tuesday during a heated legislative session.

Senator Seriake Dickson from Bayelsa West boldly confronted Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports.

The confrontation occurred during a debate centered on national security and fiscal oversight.

Akpabio reportedly attempted to limit contributions from some senators during the discussion.

This move triggered an immediate and fierce response from Senator Dickson.

“Mr. President, with due respect, you are not the President of Nigeria,” Dickson declared.

He reminded Akpabio that the Senate is a democratic institution where all members have equal standing.

“This is the Senate, and we all have equal voices here,” he added assertively.

Dickson emphasized that each senator was elected to speak for their constituents without restriction.

“You cannot continue to act in a way that stifles this legislative body,” he cautioned.

His remarks sent shockwaves through the chamber, pausing the session momentarily.

Senate President Akpabio responded with composure, defending his actions.

“I have no intention of overriding anyone’s opinion,” Akpabio replied during the exchange.

He explained that his duty is to maintain order and ensure decorum in the chamber.

Despite his response, the tension in the Senate chamber remained visibly high.

The session soon moved into a closed-door executive meeting following the clash.

Details of that meeting have not yet been made public.

Neither Senator Dickson nor Senate President Akpabio has released an official statement since the incident.

A video capturing the confrontation surfaced online and quickly went viral.

The clip, starting at the 12-second mark, shows the intense moment clearly.

Public reactions have been divided, with many praising Dickson’s bold stand.

Others voiced concern over the growing tension and discord within the legislature.

Analysts believe the clash raises critical questions about leadership and representation in the Senate.

The National Assembly is currently under heightened scrutiny over national security and accountability issues.

Diaspora Digital Media DDM reports that this confrontation has captured widespread public and political attention.

Critics warn that such power struggles risk eroding public trust in democratic governance.

Observers insist that Senate leadership must balance authority with inclusiveness and fairness.
