Senate Gives FIRS, CBN, 35 Ors A Week Ultimatum To Submit Budget

Senate gave one week ultimatum to Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) 35 other agencies to submit their budgets.

Senate on Wednesday gave one week ultimatum t‎o Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) , Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and 35 other federal agencies to submit their budgets.

Senate’s decision was sequel to point raised by Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan who drew the attention of Red chamber disobedience to fiscal Responsibility Act by affected agencies.

Lawan while moving the motion‎ stressed the need for the agencies to submit their budgets  before the Red Chamber embarks on their annual recess.

Seconding the motion, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu implored the concerned agencies to quickly comply with the Fiscal Responsibility Act  by submitting the budget for consideration in National Assembly.

Also speaking on the motion,  Senator Sani Yerima‎ who is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Marine Transport,  informed the Red chamber that agencies under his committee have submitted theirs waiting to ‎harmonize the budget with House of Representatives 

Speaking after the lawmakers adopted the resolution of Senate, the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki said their intention was to pass the agencies budget before the annual recess. 

“The budget submission by these agencies must be done within a week, “he said. 

‎Those agencies affected are  Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), National Maritime Authority (NMA), Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

Other are Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Nigerians Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Nigerians Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Federal Mortgage Bank (FMB) and Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), and many more.
