Senate mandated its standing Committee on interior & Employment, Labour & Productivity to probe abuse of expatriate quota by Foreign multinationals.

Senate mandated its standing Committee on interior and Employment, Labour and Productivity to probe through a public hearing abuse of expatriate quota by Foreign multinationals.

This was as a result of motion sponsored by Senator Andy Uba which was seconded by Senator Bassey Akpan.

Leading debate on the motion,  Uba expressed dismay  with gross abuse of the country’s laws and total disregard of government effort in providing employment to her teeming unemployed youths.

He observed that in recent times there has been avalanche of complaints of improper application of abuse expatriate quota by multinationals.

Uba lamented that the current unemployment in the country can also be traced to abuse of expatriate quota by multinationals.

He frowned at the attitude of the multinationals who disregard the land by abusing expatriate quota stipulated in the country’s laws.

He said,” the unemployment ratio is on daily and still some Nigerian outfit are alleged to have their employment over 300 expatriate in a position that could be filled by Nigerians.”

After exhaustive debate on the motion,  Senate mandated its standing committee to investigate the allegation.
