Former Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, is set to be screened by the Senate on Wednesday as Nigeria’s new Minister of Defence.
This follows his nomination by President Bola Tinubu after Mohammed Badaru resigned due to health issues.
The screening, announced by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, aims to strengthen internal peace and national security amid ongoing threats.
The Senate has received Tinubu’s request and will read the letter on Wednesday, proceeding with the screening under Section 147 of the Constitution.
Bamidele emphasized the urgency, stating, “We cannot delay this request, especially at this crucial time… to sustain campaigns against bandits, extremists, terrorists.”
Musa, who turns 58 on December 25, has extensive military experience, including serving as CDS from 2023 until October 2025.
