A pro-democracy group, Imo Advancement and Development Forum, has commended the Senator representing Anambra central senatorial district in the upper chambers of the National Assembly, Uche Ekwunife.

According to the group, her timely and well thought-out motion urged the Nigerian senate to declare a state of emergency on federal roads in the southeast geopolitical zone.

he southeast comprises of Anambra, Imo, Abia, Enugu and Eboyi, as well as, necessitated the ongoing inspection of federal roads by the senate Adhoc committee on works.

This is even as, the group, hailed the pro-activeness of the All Progressive Congress (APC), led Senate and the Chairman, Senate Ad hoc committee on works, Senator Barnabas Gemade and its committee members for its prompt follow-up on the decision of the Senate to assess the state of federal roads in the southeast.

The Imo Advancement and Development Forum said, the immediate attention given to Senator Ekwunife’s motion which facilitated the Adhoc Committee on works visit to Owerri -Umuahia Road, Umuahia -Ikot-Ekpen Road, Owerri -Okigwe Road,

Enugu -PH Road, Onitsha -Enugu Road and other Federal Government sites in The South East region, has further proven that it is no-longer ‘’business as usual’’ and that the APC is prepared to end the age-long marginalization of  Ndi Igbo.

The National coordinator of the group, Dr Obinna Amadiegwu, yesterday in Owerri, while addressing pressmen, thanked Senator Ekwunife, for not limiting her motion to her constituency or state alone but for her wisdom in carrying all southeast states along, which he said will promote unity and even development of southeast states.

The group condemned the alleged lack of interest in the plight of Imolites and the attitude of late coming, on the side of the Senator representing Imo North, Athan Achonu.

The group alleged that his lateness to the agreed take-off point, almost stalled the smooth implementation of the resolution of the Senate in Imo state, asked that a joint report be sent to the senate, in order to protect zones with weak representations in the senate.

They further advised elected representatives in the state,  to remain true to the virtues of honesty, integrity and sincerity and  desist from attributing other peoples feat to themselves, in there desperation to market  themselves to the public.
