Senator Ireti Kingibe has applauded the outstanding performance of students at the 2025 FCT Inter-Private School Debate Competition.

She described the competition as a powerful showcase of intellectual brilliance and potential among the Federal Capital Territory’s young population, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports.

The event brought together top private schools, sparking intense debates and revealing the depth of knowledge among young participants.

Senator Kingibe praised the competition for nurturing critical thinking, communication skills, and leadership among students in the Federal Capital Territory.

She shared her excitement about the event on her official X (formerly Twitter) account after attending the grand finale.

“It was an honor to attend this inspiring event,” she wrote, commending the students for their intellectual depth and confidence.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that the grand finale featured Britarch Schools, Lugbe, and Cherryfield College, Jikwoyi.

Both schools showcased exceptional preparation and engaged in a fierce battle of wits during the concluding round of the debate.

Senator Kingibe praised the eloquence, courage, and confidence of the finalists, describing their performance as highly commendable.

“The level of preparation and critical thinking displayed was truly commendable,” she remarked while addressing the students.

She personally presented awards and gifts to the winners, recognizing their hard work, dedication, and outstanding debate skills.

The senator emphasized the importance of creating platforms that enable young minds to express themselves and compete constructively.

She stressed that academic excellence should be both recognized and nurtured through such impactful educational competitions.

“It is not enough to tell children to dream, we must give them platforms to grow,” she said.

Senator Kingibe believes competitions like this build essential life skills that serve students beyond the classroom.

“As your senator, I remain committed to building a vibrant, inclusive, and intellectually rich FCT,” she stated.

Kingibe affirmed her dedication to initiatives that promote quality education and empower the younger generation to succeed.

She called on stakeholders to continue investing in youth development across Abuja and beyond.

“Together, let us support our children with every tool they need to succeed,” she concluded.

Senator Ireti Kingibe is a trained engineer and seasoned public servant with a long-standing interest in politics and governance.

She is married to Baba Gana Kingibe, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and respected diplomat.

Kingibe has worked on various development projects and later transitioned into political advocacy and public engagement.

In 2023, she ran for the FCT Senate seat under the Labour Party and emerged victorious.

Her victory was seen as a major upset to the traditional political structure in the capital city.

Since joining the Senate, she has focused on education, youth empowerment, and inclusive governance in the FCT.

She has earned praise for her grassroots involvement and efforts to address community needs across Abuja.
