Sharia police nab young couple for marrying without parents consent
Sharia police also known as Hisbah Board, has arrested a young man and his fiancée for getting married without parental consent in Kano State.
The marriage reportedly took place at a recreational event center and was facilitated by an unrelated individual who paid the bride price.
While speaking on the incident, Sheikh Mujahid Aminudeen Abubakar, the Deputy Commander General of the Hisbah Board, condemned the act, describing it as un-Islamic and unacceptable.
He stressed that parental consent is a fundamental requirement in Islamic marriage practices.
Abubakar further warned that the Hisbah Board would not tolerate such violations and vowed to take measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
“I want to announce that the board has arrested the couple and will continue to investigate and arrest their friends as well as other accomplices who aided the secret marriage to avert future occurrence of such un-Islamic practices,” he said.
However, while urging the general public to be more vigilant on such issues, the DCG hailed the efforts of those that drew the attention of the board, adding that an investigation into the matter had already commenced.
