Nigerian health influencer Aproko Doctor has shared a heartfelt reflection on his marriage, emphasizing that true connection goes far beyond physical expectations.
Speaking on a podcast, the medical doctor, whose real name is Chinonso Egemba (popularly known as Bosun), revealed that his wife, Chef Amaka Egemba, did not initially match the physical “spec” he had imagined for a partner.
“My wife didn’t look anything like the spec I created in my head,” he said. “It was what she was saying, her thoughts, and most importantly, her heart for people. She was peace for me.”
He admitted that he once considered attributes like height important, especially in relation to their future children, but ultimately realized that emotional compatibility and inner values mattered far more.
Describing the idea of “spec” as overrated, Aproko Doctor stressed that choosing a life partner should be rooted in deeper qualities rather than superficial preferences.
Their story, however, has not been without challenges. Following their marriage, Chef Amaka faced harsh online trolling after being diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a condition that can affect fertility.
Some online critics made hurtful remarks, questioning her husband’s masculinity and making unfounded accusations about their relationship. The couple has since received widespread support, with many condemning the insensitive comments.
Aproko Doctor himself has also battled health challenges, having previously undergone surgery for a brain tumor an experience that further shaped his perspective on life, love, and resilience.
Together, their journey continues to inspire many, highlighting the importance of empathy, strength, and choosing love based on values that truly matter.
