Shehu Sani Backs Dino Melaye, Say ‘I’m Also A Target’

Senator Shehu Sani has thrown weight behind Senator Dino Melaye following accusation that he masterminded the booing of President Muhammadu Buhari during 2019 Budget presentation at the National Assembly.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Senator Sani said that Senator Dino was not present on the day the President presented the budget to the Joint parliamentary session.

Also, regarding the invasion of Senator Melaye’s house by Police operatives, he said that he is also a target and is expecting to fall into similar situation as Melaye any moment.

Following police’s siege on Dino Melaye’s residence, the Senate on Wednesday ended its plenary early to enable lawmakers ascertain the whereabouts of their colleague.

The embattled senator  was on Tuesday arrested and re-arrested by the police in a confrontation that led to his hospitalisation.

While deliberating on the incident on Wednesday, Oluremi Tinubu moved a motion that the Senate adjourn plenary to immediately go in search of the senator.

Mrs Tinubu’s suggestion followed several accounts of earlier speakers that they were turned back while attempting to visit Mr Melaye at the hospital on Wednesday.

The Senate thereafter adjourned plenary after a voice vote.
