Governor Nasir El-Rufai raised alarm that over Twenty Thousand (20,000) primary school teachers in Kaduna State failed Primary 4 Examination

The Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has lamented the shocking poor standard of education in the state.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria [NAN], the governor raised alarm that over Twenty Thousand (20,000) primary school teachers in Kaduna State failed Primary 4 Examination.

The source quoted Governor El-Rufai as saying, “We are going to disengage them, then Test and Recruit at least Twenty Five Thousand (25,000) in the next few months.

“This presents us an opportunity to employ young people who are qualified and looking for jobs and also to restore the dignity and honour teachers used to have.

“We also have a challenge with the teacher-pupil ratio as we have concentration of teachers that are not needed in the urban schools.

“In some Local Government Areas, it’s a teacher-pupil ratio of 1:9 while in some places it’s 1:100.

“This is so because every big man wants his wife to be posted in the urban city but we are going to change that and repost teachers to where they are needed based on equity and justice.

“Once we are done getting quality teachers for our primary schools, we will extend this competence test to secondary school teachers also.

“Like the popular saying, “People perish for lack of knowledge”, if the foundation of a child’s education is faulty, we can conclude that the nation has no future as we’ve destroyed the future of the leaders of tomorrow by our inaction.

“We must act now!

“It is impunity of the highest order to send someone who is unqualified to teach pupils as they end up destroying the future of the next generation.

“We shouldn’t politicise the fate of the next generation as every child, irrespective of their parents’ status, deserve quality education,” he concluded.

Reacting to the report, an analyst told Elombah.com: “It’s not only in Kaduna. This nonsense exists in all the nineteen Northern states of Nigeria.

“Besides, it’s the same in the ministries, including health.

“Your second name is sorry if you venture to receive an injection from their nurses of whom the majority are grossly unqualified.”
