Simon Ekpa claims responsibility for Isiala Mbano attack in Imo

Mr Simon Ekpa, the leader of breakaway faction of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) has claimed responsibility for the vicious attack in Isiala-Mbano local government area headquarters of Imo State on Tuesday.

Newsband Newspaper reports that two security operatives were killed when gunmen said to be Biafra Resistance Fighters launched vicious attack on the LGA facility around 9:30pm.

In a video sighted by this medium, the armed bandits were seen firing indiscriminately, which forced residents to scamper for safety.

The Local Government building and several vehicles were razed during the raid.

Meanwhile, the incident has created a situation of fear in the area, with many residents seeking refuge in neighboring villages.

The local community is calling on the government and police for immediate assistance to restore safety and order.

But speaking on the attack, Simon Ekpa who is currently a Finland Based fugitive in a post on his official X handle, said the Biafra Resistance Fighters which he command led the brutal assault on Tuesday night.

He said during the operation, both old men and women he accused Nigerian army and police of kidnapping and detaining at the facility were released.

Ekpa said, “The Biafra Resistance Fighters has rescued all Biafrans that were kidnapped by the Nigeria terrorists @HQNigerianArmy @PoliceNG and being held in a particular facility, old men and women they kidnapped and were demanding 500k each, they have all been rescued. It is operation rescue all Biafrans that being held hostage by Nigeria terrorists.”
