SOKAPU suspends youth wing over internal crises

The Central Executive Committee of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union has suspended the activities of its youths wing with immediate effect.

A statement issued to newsmen on Saturday in Kaduna by the National Public Relations officer of the Umbrella body, Mr. Luka Biniyat, said no national official of SOKAPU Youths Wing must parade his office publicly or use his office for either personal or official engagement with anyone or group, pending the resolution of issues at stake.

According to him, the suspension came as a result of internal squabbles among the National Executives of the Youths Wing, leading to the alleged impeachment of its National Coordinator, Mr John Isaac, on the 20th August, 2022.

A seven-man committee made up of members of the CEC and two other respectable members of SOKAPU outside the CEC, has been set up to look into the issues raised by the National Executive Committee of SOKAPU Youths Wing which carried out the said impeachment.

The Committee has been given two weeks to carry out its findings and make recommendations to the CEC of SOKAPU.

The National Executives of the Youths Wing and their supporters have been instructed to keep away from making further comments in the social media and conventional mass media on the matter that is before the committee.
