Soldiers arrest 22 suspected terrorist logistics suppliers

…Seize trucks with sacks of smoked fish

 

Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Operation Hadin Kai in Borno State have arrested 22 suspects, including a 40-year-old man named Ibrahim Buka, accused of supplying logistics to terrorists.

The arrest happened around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Checkpoint 2 in Mafa Local Government Area.

Buka and his accomplices were caught transporting 59 cartons and 28 sacks of smoked fish in two Isuzu trucks, believed to be supporting insurgent activities.

Preliminary investigations suggest the fish was handed over to them by terrorists in Laje village.

Buka reportedly confessed to repeatedly supplying various items to the terrorists and was identified by hybrid forces as a former supplier while they were in the bush.

All suspects and the seized goods are now in custody for further investigation.
