Anambra – Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for what he described as Nigeria’s “gold-standard election” following his re-election victory in the just-concluded Anambra 2025 governorship election.

Speaking shortly after being declared winner by the Returning Officer, Soludo said the smooth conduct of the poll marked a turning point in Nigeria’s democratic journey and reaffirmed citizens’ confidence in the nation’s electoral system.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that Soludo, who contested under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), commended INEC officials, security agencies, and voters for their conduct, saying the process reflected “the true spirit of democracy.”

He described the exercise as the most transparent and peaceful election ever held in Anambra, noting that the electronic transmission of results and real-time monitoring through the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) played a major role in ensuring credibility.

According to Soludo, “This election is not just a win for APGA, but a victory for every Anambra citizen who believes in good governance, transparency, and development. I must thank President Tinubu for allowing democracy to thrive without interference.”

The governor expressed appreciation to his opponents, particularly Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and George Moghalu of the Labour Party (LP), urging them to join hands with his administration to continue the developmental transformation of Anambra State.

Soludo also commended the people of Anambra for turning out in large numbers despite logistical challenges in some areas, adding that their participation showed maturity and political awareness.

Observers from civil society groups, including Yiaga Africa, Kukah Centre, and the Centre for Media and Society (CEMESO), have also rated the election high for organization and credibility, although they flagged reports of minor logistical delays and isolated cases of vote-buying.

In his post-election statement, Soludo reaffirmed his commitment to rural development, education reform, and youth empowerment, promising to make Anambra “a model state that sets the pace for others to follow.”

He also emphasized that his government would sustain peace and security across all 21 local government areas while working closely with the federal government to attract investment and infrastructure.

“The future of Nigeria’s democracy shines brighter today,” Soludo concluded. “Anambra has just shown the nation how credible elections should be conducted.”

Meanwhile, celebrations continued late into the night in Awka, Nnewi, and Onitsha, where APGA supporters trooped into the streets in jubilation, chanting victory songs and waving party flags.
