Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has called for a sustainable partnership between Poland and the State government in areas that can help transform the State

While receiving the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Nigeria, His Excellency, Michael Cygan, at the Light House, Awka, the Governor noted that the lessons from Poland’s history challenge Nigeria to believe in its own potential for rapid development.

He expressed particular enthusiasm for the Ambassador’s role as the guest speaker at the upcoming Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) convocation, noting that the choice of the speaker aligns with the state’s vision for intellectual and economic growth.

Soludo made a compelling case for the state, asserting that as Poland expands its international footprint, Anambra remains the most strategic location for partnership outside of Lagos and Abuja.

He highlighted the state’s unique demographics and economic advantage, describing Anambra as a land of enterprise, with influential players in global markets.

He stressed the need to foster private business ties with the enterprising nature of the people.

Soludo characterized this approach as the only true path to sustainability, creating a partnership built for the long-term future.

Ambassador Michael Cygan spoke with a candid assessment of current relations, admitting that Poland’s academic presence in Nigeria has remained below their institutional ambitions. He noted that while previous exchanges existed, they lacked the intensity required for a deep impact.

The Envoy described his visit as a move toward practical engagement, calling the meeting a very promising beginning. He praised Anambra as a center of culture and identity—values that resonate deeply with Poland’s own respect for tradition—and stated his ambition to make Anambra a prominent pillar of Poland’s partnership with Nigeria.

Earlier in the visit, the Vice Chancellor of COOU, Professor Kate Omenugha, reiterated the university’s commitment to global relevance. She noted that the institution had promised increased visibility, and the arrival of the Polish envoy for the convocation serves as a major milestone in achieving international collaboration and academic linkages under Governor Soludo’s administration.

Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake, Principal Secretary, Barr. Joachin Anaeto, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Ben Nwankwo were at the occasion.
