Former Anambra State Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Hon. Don Onyenji, has revealed that Governor Chukwuma Soludo's administration is preparing for the next phase of its tourism transformation agenda, with major heritage sites across the state lined up for redevelopment. Speaking during an exclusive interview on Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), Onyenji disclosed that the state government engaged a tourism consultant to develop a comprehensive master plan for the revitalisation of five key tourism destinations—Agulu Lake, Ogbunike Caves, Owere-Ezukala Cave and Waterfalls, Anam Beach, and Awka City Park. According to him, the report was completed before the end of Governor Soludo's first term and is expected to be presented to the State Executive Council by his successor. Onyenji noted that following the construction of the iconic Fun City in Awka, the Soludo administration is looking to shift attention to upgrading the state's major tourism heritage sites as part of a broader vision to position Anambra as one of Nigeria's leading tourism and leisure destinations. Federal High Court Sets Aside Earlier Judgment Ordering INEC to Register NDC A Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja has vacated its earlier judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as a political party, effectively nullifying all actions taken pursuant to that ruling. Delivering the decision on Friday, Justice Isah Dashen held that the court's December 10, 2025 judgment adversely affected the rights of the Peace Movement Party (PMP), which was not joined in the original suit despite claiming ownership of the logo relied upon by the NDC to obtain the registration order. Counsel to the applicant, C.S. Ekeocha, explained that the Peace Movement Party approached the court after discovering that the NDC's registration was based on a logo the party had previously submitted to INEC before the original case was filed. Ekeocha said the court found that the applicant's interests had been prejudiced and, as a result, set aside its earlier judgment. The court also directed all parties to return to the positions they occupied before the December 10, 2025 ruling and ordered the claimants to join all necessary parties to ensure the issues in dispute are fully and fairly determined. According to him, the ruling invalidates every action taken by INEC in compliance with the earlier judgment, including the recognition of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, the issuance of its certificate of registration, its inclusion in INEC's official records, and any appearance on ballot papers pending the final determination of the substantive suit. He clarified that the substantive case remains before the court and has not yet been decided on its merits, noting that the court only vacated its previous judgment to allow all affected parties to be heard before reaching a fresh decision. Ekeocha further dismissed claims that the court merely ordered parties to maintain the status quo, maintaining that the ruling expressly restored all parties to the positions they occupied before the December 10, 2025 judgment.
