  • Introducing the Coalition of South East Presidency 2023 (COSEP-2023)

Coalition of South-East for President 2023 (COSEP-2023) is a conglomerate of organizations and associations partnering to agitate/campaign for a Nigerian President of South-East Zone in 2023 Presidential elections.

Noting that since after the end of the Civil War in 1970, that No Victor No Vanquish was declared.

Cognizance that the Nigeria State has witnessed and passed through several regimes and administration’s since 1960 of our independent; West and North of the three Regions, 1999 as six zones, North-West, North-East, North-Central, South-West and South-South zones respectively had presided and is presiding over the Federal Government of Nigeria as Prime Minister/Executive President except the South-East Zone.

Remembering of the promise of 3Rs – Reconciliation, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction so as to heal the wounds of the Civil War.

Conscious that the Igbo of the South-East zone has made more sacrifices in keeping Nigeria United as a Country and has also carried out developmental projects in all parts of Nigeria in other to make Nigeria the greatest and strongest country in Africa.

Noting that Equity, Justice and Fairness, as natural principles that drives unity, while unity drives peace and peace drives Development, Progress and Prosperity.

Consequent upon the above, we urge all the Political Parties in Nigeria to nominate a South-Easterner as their Presidential Flag Bearer in 2023 so as to support the South-east to become the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come 2023.

We affirm that if the above demands are met, Nigerian economy will favorably compete to become the fifty largest economy in the world before the end 2027.

We insist that nobody from the South-East Zone should accept a Vice Presidential position for 2023.

We note that Nigeria is dilapidated economically, technologically and politically; the security situation very volatile. The country is vulcanically charged socially and religiously and therefore highly apprehensive that, if the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come 2023 does not come from the South-East zone: the fragile unity in diversity we have now will be seriously endangered.

  • 1966-1975 (9 years) – Gowon, NC;
  • 1975 (0.75 year) – Murtala, NW;
  • 1975-1979 (4 years) – OBJ, SW;
  • 1979-1983 (4 years) – Shagari, NW;
  • 1983-1985 (2 years) – Buhari, NW;
  • 1985-1993 (8 years) – IBB, NC;
  • 1993 (0.25 year) – Shonekan, SW;
  • 1993-1998 (5 years) – Abacha, NW;
  • 1998-1999 (0.75 year) – Abdulsalam, NC;

Summary, by 2023, out of 15 times of 64 years:

  • NW has ruled 6 times totalling 22 years or 34%
  • NC has ruled 3 times totalling 18 years or 28%
  • SW has ruled 3 times totalling 12 years or 19%
  • SS has ruled 1 time totalling 6 years or 9%
  • NE has ruled 1 time totalling 6 years or 9%
  • SE has ruled 1 time totalling 0.5 year or 1%

Findings:

Based on average of 10.71 years per each of the 6 regions, NW, NC and SW are overfed, SS and NE are moderately fed, while the SE is GROSSLY underfed and marginalised. They should get the next slot.

If other regions have managed Nigeria for 99% of our existence Nigeria is still beset with poverty, corruption, weak economy, nepotism and terrorism, IT IS TIME TO TRY THE SOUTH EAST. Fortunately, the SE has an abundance of leadership talent.
