Street action surfaces, as Ògún festival begins in Idepe-town, Ondo State

Road users and townsfolk are witnessing roadblocks on Sunday, in what has been described as a lead up to the annual Ògún festival, within the Idepe-town metropolis, located in Okitipupa Local Government area of Ondo State.
The festival is noted for its appreciation among indigents and devotees who will match round the town in fun-fare, rubbing blue and white powder on themselves and on visitors.
Ògún festival, yearly celebrated in Idepe, a major Ikale subgroup is a traditional festival done in commemoration of Ògún, known as a warrior and an energetic god of metalworks.
Coming into view on the majorly plied roadways within the Idepe metropolis, young adults are seen holding raffia palms and barricading roads with their postures and in other instance, with tyres, tree branches, and blocks of stone.
NewsBand correspondent on Sunday afternoon observed that at several intersections, including on an in-road into Okitipupa market, also at the popular roundabout in the town, and across almost all road curves, there were frantic young male adults who entreated cyclists and motorists to pay their way through.
Traditional leaders in the town, under the auspicious headship of Jegun of Idepe, Oba Michael Adetoye Obatuga, are concerned and have cautioned against violence or human rights violation in the course of the festival.
