….Promised to refund looted funds
In order to get a soft landing from a Federal High Court in Yola presided by Justice Bilkisu Aliyu, the Suspended bursar of Adamawa State University, Mubi Mr Khumti Ezra Anjili has yesterday through his lawyer entered into plea bargain with the court to refund 170m Naira which he was alleged to have defrauded the university.
The former bursar is charged alongside the former Vice Chancellor of the State University,Joshua They were arraigned on June 5 and had pleaded not guilty to the charges. Justice Bilkisu Aliyu had granted them bail in the sum of N10 million each with sureties each in like sum.
At the resumed proceedings, counsel to the EFCC, told the court that he was ready to open his case against the accused, adding that four witnesses were present in court. Israel said EFCC had discharged its obligation by serving the proof of evidence on the accused. But responding, counsel to the accused, told the court that the matter was only adjourned for mention and that the case could not be heard, adding that the accused were still in plea bargain talks with the EFCC.
Sources revealed to Tgnews.com that Mr Ezra is just having one tenth of the money embezzled to return accusing him of living a suspicious life style of reckless spending with public funds.
The Vice chancellor of the university, Dr. Moses Zaruwa who is a prime witness was however asked out of the court when the hearing of the duo cases began which 4 of the 15 charges against Prof Shall David Joshua witnesses have appeared before the court to testify his involvement in the crime.
According to an anonymous source,that all enemies of the present Chancellor,Dr Zaruwa will be brought to book and the plea bargain asking of by Khunti has further justify him to be innocent of whatever accusations and an enemy of all forms of corruption in the university hence is bending of clean rotting the school many mess committed by his predecessors.
