Tears at service of songs for late Arise TV anchor Somtochukwu

A Service of Songs was held in honor of late Arise TV anchor Somtochukwu Maduagwu at Corpus Christi Cathedral in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The event drew relatives, friends, and colleagues who paid their last respects to the deceased.

Rev. Fr. Ezeunara Charles delivered a heartfelt homily, describing Somto’s life as brief but impactful.

He reflected on the sudden nature of her passing, noting that the family had been preparing for her traditional wedding.

The priest encouraged the congregation to reflect on their legacy, asking, “What will you be remembered for when you die?”

Rev. Fr. Prof. Columbus Ogbijah, the officiating priest, described Somto as a bright star and the darling of her family, praying for God’s comfort for her loved ones.

Andy Omano, representing Arise TV, paid tribute to Somto as a valuable asset to the news crew.

He acknowledged her impactful work despite her short time with the organization, describing her death as painful.

Omano said, “Sommy was a great asset to Arise TV. She was with us for a short time but she made her marks.”.
