Tems lashes social media trolls on big body critic

Nigerian Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Temilade Openiyi popularly known as Tems has recently addressed criticism over her body physique.

Taking to her X account she sent a powerful message to online trolls and critics who have made her curves a topic of debate.

Known for her sultry voice, artistic brilliance, and unapologetic individuality, Tems is now adding “body confidence icon” to her list of accolades.

In a post that has since gone viral, Tems fired back at body shamers with poise and power.

“Y’all spent so much time talking about my body like I’m not out here breaking barriers,” she wrote.

“If you’re uncomfortable with a woman being confident in her skin, that’s YOUR problem—not mine.”

Her bold statement quickly gained traction across platforms, sparking widespread support from fans and fellow artists alike.

So many praised the Nigerian-born star for standing up against the toxic culture of body shaming, especially in an industry that often demands perfection over authenticity.

Tems achievements

Temilade Openiyi, rose to international prominence with hits like “Essence” alongside Wizkid and her solo single “Free Mind.”

Meanwhile, her voice has captivated audiences globally, some critics have chosen to focus on her appearance rather than her artistry.

Tems wrote that “Too many times, women especially in the spotlight are reduced to their looks,”

She continued,

“I’m not here to fit into a box. I’m here to make music, live freely, and inspire others to do the same.”

The singer’s fans, affectionately known as the Rebel Gang, have rallied behind her, flooding social media with messages of love and admiration.
