Residents of Kutaho and Kugir communities in Aribi Ward, Kagarko Local Government Area, have raised alarm over the continued captivity of 32 villagers abducted more than a month ago by suspected bandits.

The kidnappers are reportedly demanding ₦30 million and four motorcycles for the release of the victims, who include women, children, and a heavily pregnant woman.

The abductions occurred during a midnight raid on February 9, when armed men stormed the farming communities, firing gunshots and forcing residents from their homes.

Eyewitnesses described the attackers as forcibly rounding up villagers, threatening children, and tying up men before whisking them away to an unknown location.

Residents said repeated attacks and insecurity have forced many to flee, disrupting farming and local economic activities.

Kutaho, previously known for ginger farming, has seen agricultural productivity sharply decline due to insecurity.

Community leaders, including Pastor Bello Danasabe (ECWA) and Rev. John Maiaper (CAN), have appealed to the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to rescue the abducted villagers and restore peace to the communities. They also called for an improved security presence and better telecommunications infrastructure to enable timely reporting of attacks.

So far, limited assistance has been provided, with only local government officials delivering some food items.
