Terrorists Unleash New Horror As Kwara Community Suffers Again

Share this:

(DDM) – Terror returned violently to Kwara State on Monday evening as armed terrorists launched yet another deadly assault on Isapa community, abducting at least eleven residents, including a pregnant woman, nursing mothers, and several children.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the attack occurred barely twenty-four hours after victims of a previous mass kidnapping in the same axis were released, deepening tensions across Ekiti Local Government Area.

Residents said the gunmen, numbering between twenty and thirty, stormed the area around 6:00 p.m., firing wildly as terrified families fled into nearby bushes for safety.

Eyewitnesses recounted how an elderly woman was struck by a stray bullet amid the chaos created by the attackers.

Community sources revealed that seven of the abducted victims were taken from a single household, creating fears that the attackers had monitored the family before striking.

The kidnapped victims were identified as Talatu Kabiru, 20; Magaji, 6; Kande, 5; Hadiza, 10; Mariam, 6; Saima, 5; Habibat, a housewife; Fatima Yusufu, also a housewife; Sarah Sunday, 22, who is pregnant; Lami Fidelis, 23, a nursing mother; and Haja Na Allah, another nursing mother.

Residents described scenes of shattered doors, bullet-riddled walls, and abandoned personal items as proof of the panic that overtook the community during the attack.

Spent AK-47 shells were also recovered from multiple points across the settlement, confirming the heavy firepower used by the invading gunmen.

Security operatives and local vigilante groups immediately launched a search operation through surrounding forests where the terrorists were believed to have escaped with the captives.

Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, confirmed the incident, stating that he was on his way into Isapa from Ilorin and would provide more details after assessing the situation.

The latest attack has reignited nationwide concerns over the deteriorating state of security, particularly in rural communities across northern and central Nigeria.

Nigeria has been struggling with one of the worst kidnapping crises in its modern history, with thousands abducted across the country within the past five years.

Experts say poor policing infrastructure, porous forests, and the spread of terror cells across states have created fertile ground for repeated attacks.

Many schools in the northern region remain shut because of bandit threats, with hundreds of students abducted in similar raids since 2020.

Local leaders in Kwara have repeatedly appealed to the Federal Government for stronger security presence and better intelligence support, but attacks have persisted.

Residents now fear that the escalating sequence of kidnappings may signal a fresh wave of coordinated terror operations targeting vulnerable communities.

Authorities insist that search-and-rescue missions are ongoing, but families of the abducted victims worry that time is running out.

Many community members say they no longer sleep at night, fearing another invasion from the same armed group or an affiliated network.

As the situation intensifies, calls for urgent federal intervention continue to grow, with citizens demanding reforms in policing and rural security strategy.

For now, Isapa remains in a state of mourning, fear, and uncertainty as families pray for the safe return of their abducted loved ones.
