Testimonies From FG’s Conditional Cash Transfer Programme

Watch and hear the very very touching story of Helen Joseph Benard from Cross River state who’s physically-challenged, and beneficiary of the FG’s Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Programme.

The stories are all very similar – the beneficiaries use the money to take care of their households and to start small businesses; the first steps out of poverty. Many of them also save.

620,947 Nigerians currently benefit from the FG’s Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme across 29 States.

Scheme pays N5,000 monthly to the poorest Nigerians (based on a National Social Register compiled with the World Bank support).

CCT beneficiaries have been banding together to form savings groups (àjo-type stuff).

Beneficiaries in 17 States have saved 567 million naira from their monthly N5,000 receipts.

18,210 of these beneficiaries have taken loans from the pool, with default rates under 6% only.
