“They Will Arrest Us” — Portable Responds to Skepta Over Insecurity Comment

Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has reacted to comments made by rapper Skepta calling for celebrities to speak out on Nigeria’s challenges.

Portable responded after Skepta recently questioned the level of hardship in Nigeria and urged public figures to raise their voices on national issues.

In his reaction, Portable argued that many entertainers are afraid to speak out due to possible consequences from authorities, adding that fear of arrest often limits open criticism within the country.

“Skepta is saying celebrities should speak, did he want Nigeria government to pick us? They will arrest us if we speak up. We only need help. Nigerians in diaspora should speak up cause Nigerian government can’t arrest them. I’m only concerned about money,” he said.

His comments have since generated mixed reactions online, with some users agreeing that fear plays a role in celebrity silence, while others criticised his focus on financial concerns over national issues.
