A Chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Chukwuma Nwaonicha has advised all persons using propaganda to destroy the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, to desist from such evil act. Nwaonicha gave the advice during a chat with newsmen at Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.

He said the administration of Governor Okowa is doing her best to better the lives of Deltans despite the lean resources at her disposal, noting, “it is baffling and painful to hear people destroy the good works of someone who is doing his best to transform our state for the good of everyone. Governor Okowa’s government has recorded huge successes in education, agriculture, road construction, empowerment, job creation and healthcare. The governor meant well for Deltans, hence, we should be patient with him for he cannot develop everywhere at the same time,” he said.

Speaking further, Nwaonicha condemned the wrong notion of some persons that most projects executed in the state are substandard and that the issue of flooding in Asaba is not taken seriously by Okowa’s government. He maintained that government projects across the state as far as he is concerned are properly monitored and executed, adding that the issue of flood is a global one as the changes in climate (global warming) are greatly wreaking havoc everywhere in the world.

“Disasters associated with global warming and climate change includes killer heat waves, wildfires, droughts and flooding which highlight how vulnerable humanity is to extreme weather.  Perhaps, after man, the next most unpredictable thing that exists on Earth is weather.  Twenty-first century disasters such as killer heat waves in Europe, India and Pakistan, wildfires in the United States, droughts in Australia and deadly flooding in Mozambique, Thailand and Pakistan, flooding and heat waves in Nigeria in recent times are caused by global warming and climate change.  Therefore, Asaba flooding is not an exception,” he added.

He therefore called on well meaning Deltans not to renege in their support for the Okowa’s government which according to him is working seriously to develop the state and better the lives of her citizens.
