Dr. Kayode Opeifa, a former Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, has been appointed as the new Managing Director of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) by President Bola Tinubu.

The appointment was confirmed in a statement issued by the Renewed Hope United Kingdom on Wednesday.

Though, the presidency is yet to issue an official statement on Mr Opeifa’s appointment.

The statement by Renewed Hope United Kingdom stressed his transformative work in Lagos, where as Commissioner for Transportation, he implemented policies that drastically improved public transport systems and traffic management, contributing to the state’s urban development.

Before this new role, Dr. Opeifa served as the Transport Secretary for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

His leadership in the Lagos transport sector, where he spearheaded key initiatives to modernize the city’s transport infrastructure, has positioned him as a strong candidate to lead the modernization of Nigeria’s railway network.
