Tinubu Is a Bad Market for 2027 – PDP Fires, APC Claps Back

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched a scathing critique of President Bola Tinubu, calling him “a bad market” and asserting that no patriotic Nigerian will support his re-election bid in 2027.

Addressing the press on Monday in Abuja, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, insisted that the party remains Nigeria’s only credible alternative and the only force capable of unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to Ologunagba, the PDP’s widespread support and deep-rooted national presence position it as the true people’s party, undeterred by the noise surrounding recent defections and political realignments.

He maintained that despite efforts to destabilize the party, its core members and millions of Nigerians, especially those unaffiliated with any political group, still see the PDP as the vehicle for change.

“We are the only party that can remove APC from power,” he stated.

“We’re everywhere, there’s no community in this country without PDP members.

“Nigerians are yearning for us to return.”

He went further to assert that no right-thinking Nigerian would support President Tinubu’s re-election.

“Tinubu is a bad market, as we say in street parlance.

“With the level of economic hardship, insecurity, and misgovernance we’re witnessing, no one who truly cares for this country will vote for him in 2027,” Ologunagba declared.

The PDP spokesman also addressed the defection of some members to rival parties, dismissing the notion that the party is losing ground.

He argued that defections were politically motivated but did not reflect the will of the party’s true base.

“They’re not leaving because of hunger or insecurity. Our core membership remains loyal.

“Even apolitical Nigerians still believe in the PDP,” he said, criticizing the APC-led administration as “insensitive” and “rudderless.”

Citing a recent incident in which the PDP’s candidate in Anambra State was attacked in Abuja, Ologunagba said it underscored the worsening insecurity under APC leadership.

“This is a government that asks the masses to fast while it feasts,” he added.

He also pointed to the July 12 local government elections in Lagos, suggesting the low voter turnout was a silent protest against the APC.

“Only 6% of registered voters turned up.

“Even one of their own leaders admitted people didn’t vote for them.

“That says a lot, especially in Lagos, Tinubu’s stronghold.”

He concluded by highlighting what sets the PDP apart: internal democracy and openness to dissent.

“We don’t punish disagreement.

“We debate, recalibrate, and reconnect with the people.

“That’s the spirit of the People’s Democratic Party.”

APC Hits Back

In a swift response, Bala Ibrahim, the APC’s Director of Publicity, dismissed the PDP’s comments as delusional and politically desperate.

Speaking to The PUNCH, he likened the opposition party to a patient in the “intensive care unit,” incapable of issuing credible political judgments.

“An unstable mind cannot diagnose insanity,” Ibrahim quipped.

“The PDP is in critical condition, politically, and has no moral standing to assess the leadership or popularity of President Tinubu.”

He argued that President Tinubu has reawakened national hope through key reforms and is leading the country toward prosperity. “Millions of patriotic Nigerians are behind him. Come 2027, they will support him again.”

Ibrahim also emphasized the unity within the APC, contrasting it with the internal frictions and disarray allegedly plaguing the PDP.

“As we speak, the APC is stronger and more united under President Tinubu than ever before.

“He is providing the kind of leadership the country needs at this crucial time,” he said.

Dismissing the PDP’s criticism as baseless, Ibrahim added, “Before casting stones, the PDP should look inwards.

“You can’t manage your own house and then talk about rebuilding someone else’s.”

The political exchange underscores the mounting tensions ahead of the 2027 general elections, with both major parties preparing for what promises to be a high-stakes contest.

While the APC continues to tout its reforms and stability under Tinubu, the PDP is banking on growing public dissatisfaction to reclaim power.

As Nigerians navigate tough economic conditions and growing insecurity, the coming years may determine whether the electorate sticks with the incumbent or chooses a new direction.
