Chief Bayo Onanuga, the spokesman of President Bola Tinubu has condemned those who tagged his principal with different nicknames due to the current economic hardship in the country, noting that the President is not ‘T-pain’ and he feels the pain of Nigerians.

Onanuga said this when he appeared on Channels Television on Sunday.

He said the use of T-Pain, as commonly called on social media, is not for Tinubu, stating that the president feels the challenges Nigerians are facing and is committed to improving their situation.

“The President is aware that the citizens are going through some difficulties,” Onanuga said.

However, he noted that Tinubu remains unaware of the online nickname, as “the President does not read what is on social media

“Some people have also responded and called the President a different name. So, as far as I am concerned, it is a non-issue,” he added. “Some people out of mischief just say somebody is a T-Pain. He (Tinubu) is not T-Pain

“The President has never shied away from telling Nigerians that he feels their pain, and he is working very hard to provide relief and ensure that prosperity returns to this country,” he added.

Meanwhile, despite rising inflation and soaring prices, Onanuga stressed that the economy is showing signs of growth and government revenues have increased.

Recall that millions of Nigerians are struggling with record-high food prices and skyrocketing energy costs, which have increased fourfold in the past year.

The removal of the petrol subsidy and the unification of forex rates have been identified by many as the main contributors to the rising cost of living.
