Tinubu nominates new leadership for NERC

President Bola Tinubu has nominated new leadership for the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). The nominations aim to strengthen oversight in Nigeria’s power sector.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the spokesman of the president, Chief Bayo Onanuga on Thursday.
The nomination comes as part of efforts to strengthen oversight in the power sector.
Engr. Abdullahi Garba Ramat has been nominated to serve as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NERC.
Also named are Mr. Abubakar Yusuf, proposed as Commissioner for Consumer Affairs, and Dr. Fouad Olayinka Animashun, slated for the role of Commissioner for Finance and Management Services.
Meanwhile, all nominations according to the statement are subject to confirmation by the Senate.
Ramat will assume office in an acting capacity pending Senate confirmation.
President Tinubu urged the nominees to advance the administration’s power sector vision using their knowledge and experience.
