President Bola Tinubu has announced that Nigeria met its 2025 revenue target in August, months ahead of schedule, and assured citizens that his administration will not resort to further borrowing.

The President revealed this while receiving members of The Buhari Organisation (TBO), led by former Nasarawa State Governor Senator Tanko Al-Makura, at the State House in Abuja.

Tinubu said the government achieved the revenue milestone through the non-oil sector, underscoring his administration’s commitment to diversifying Nigeria’s economy.

“Nigeria is not borrowing. We have met our revenue target for the year, and we met it in August,” the President declared confidently.

President Tinubu highlighted recent progress in stabilising the economy, pointing to the exchange rate as an indicator of improvement.

“When I took over, it was ₦1,900 to a dollar. It’s ₦1,450 now. Rates have been stabilising,” he said.

He stressed that no one was “trading pieces of paper for exchange rate anymore,” describing the current trend as proof that reforms were working.

The President also unveiled plans to boost job creation through trade and industrial expansion, while reaffirming his government’s commitment to food security.

He announced that every region would soon host a mechanised farm centre to increase productivity and reduce poverty.

Addressing political supporters, Tinubu urged Nigerians not to be distracted by opposition voices or external pressures.

He dismissed concerns about U.S. President Donald Trump’s policies, saying Nigeria’s non-oil revenue progress provided a strong cushion.

“Don’t let anybody threaten you with uncertainty. We know the direction we are going, and we are certain of success,” he told the delegation.

The President also reflected on his political alliance with the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, praising his legacy of honesty, justice, and transparency.

Tinubu pledged to continue in that tradition and even promised to establish a “Buhari House” as a symbol of shared vision.

Senator Al-Makura assured Tinubu that the CPC bloc of the APC remained loyal and united.

He praised Tinubu’s leadership through challenging economic times and reaffirmed the group’s readiness to mobilise nationwide support ahead of the 2027 elections.

“We are with you in loyalty, in person, and in purpose,” Al-Makura said.

Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas also pledged unconditional support, stressing that more than 90 percent of CPC’s pioneer leaders were still active and loyal.

He assured Tinubu that CPC members would mobilise at state, local government, ward, and unit levels to secure his re-election.

President Tinubu closed the meeting with a message of determination.

“The legacy you will inherit from me is total commitment to justice, transparency, and progress.

At the end of this journey, it will be a house of joy and prosperity for all,” he said.
