(DDM) – Nigeria’s Minister of Environment, Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, is mourning the death of his beloved mother, Hajiya Dayyaba.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the sad news was announced in a statement issued by Ibrahim Haruna, the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Federal Ministry of Environment.

According to the statement, Hajiya Dayyaba passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2025, in Zaria, Kaduna State, after a brief illness.

The late matriarch was said to have lived a humble and prayerful life, cherished by her family and respected within her community.

Haruna confirmed that her funeral prayer, known as Janazah, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025, in Bambale, Zaria City.

The statement read that the ministry deeply regrets the loss and stands in solidarity with the Honourable Minister during this period of grief.

It added that her passing has left a deep void not only in her immediate family but also among all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The Federal Ministry of Environment extended condolences to the Minister and his relatives, praying for divine comfort and strength.

The statement further offered prayers that Allah (SWT) forgives her shortcomings and grants her eternal rest in Al-Jannatul Firdaus.

The message concluded with a call for patience and fortitude for the bereaved family, reminding them that every soul shall taste death.

Hajiya Dayyaba’s passing has drawn sympathy from government officials, religious leaders, and the general public, who have been sending messages of condolence to the Minister.

Born and raised in Zaria, the Minister has often spoken fondly about the discipline and moral values he inherited from his mother.

Family members describe her as a woman of faith who devoted her life to charity, raising her children with a strong sense of honesty and service.

Prayers and tributes have flooded social media from colleagues in the Federal Executive Council, who describe the loss as a painful blow to the Minister and his household.
