Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has assured President Bola Tinubu that his re-election in 2027 is certain, despite opposition efforts to challenge his leadership.
Senator Akpabio reportedly made the remark on Wednesday, March 26, during a special Iftar dinner hosted by the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) in Abuja.
While addressing the gathering, he expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would not only retain power in 2027 but also expand its influence across more states.
“We will return in 2027, in Jesus’ name, Amen. We shall pray for our party, and indeed, victory will be ours in 2027. Can we say a loud amen? And we will also pray for Mr. President, that his second term is assured. Can we shout a loud amen!” he declared.
Akpabio then initiated a symbolic vote, saying, “Those in favour of APC’s return in 2027, say ‘aye,’ those against, say ‘nay’.” When the crowd responded with a resounding “aye,” he affirmed, “The ayes have it.”
He also encouraged senators aspiring for governorship positions in 2027 to pursue their ambitions, citing Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo as an example of a senator who successfully transitioned to the governorship.
