To All Onitsha North Constituency 1 Candidates — Who Can Be Mimi Ikpeazu?
By Ifeanyi Chijioke

There comes a time we must sit back and eschew our ambitions for the good of humanity. I understand democracy gives everyone the opportunity to take a shot at any political office within one’s legal or constitutional jurisdiction, but there comes a time humanity should brag over ambitions.
I wouldn’t sit here today talking about candidates if it wasn’t for what I know or witnessed.
Permit me to introduce Mimiy Ifeoma Azikiwe, not as a candidate, but as an ordinary lady out there doing what none of the candidates has done or had the zeal to do for humanity. Not even what previous office holders had done prior to occupying the office.
Before I sojourn with this pen of mine to my purpose, let me emphasize that I don’t want to talk about Mimiy Ifeoma Azikiwe as a candidate; I simply want to talk about the lady I knew before she declared interest to contest for House of Assembly to further impacting the lives of her constituents.
There is a foundation founded by this glamorous lady; it’s called Themis Foundation. This foundation focuses on delivering what political office holders should be delivering to Nigerians. In reality, the Themis Foundation brings the dividend of democracy to constituents even without occupying any political office.
This lady from the Ikpeazu family of Onitsha is a shining star, one whose love, compassion, and empathy overwhelm. One whose concern for the less privileged, victims of injustice, victims of the corruption in our country, and hopeless lots has made a champion. She actively fights for us all without segregation.
Themis Foundation focuses on returning smiles to the faces of those who have lost hope of a smile. This foundation is bankrolled by Mimiy Ifeoma Azikiwe- the offspring of the Ikpeazu’s dynasty.
If this lady is doing this much, despite not yet holding any political office, what do you think will happen if she holds a political office?
The candidates might not answer this question because it automatically knocks them all off balance. But I will do justice to this question.
Should Mimiy Ifeoma Ikpeazu hold a political office, the fortune of her constituents and others will double. Her presence as a political officeholder will be a prayer answered for her constituents and other Nigerians.
I cannot sit here and fathom the gain of having Mimiy Ifeoma Azikiwe on the floor of the Anambra State House of Assembly; it’s enormous, and with her character, there is hope of a better tomorrow.
By virtue of Mimiy Ifeoma Ikpeazu being the prayer point of the less privileged, the poor, and victims of injustice in Nigeria, I beseech the candidates to concede and support the best—support a prayer answered.
I know it’s hard, especially in Africa, for candidates to withdraw for the good of their constituents or the people. I think my plea might not be accepted, but it should be noted that it’s the first sign of selfishness on the side of the candidates’ challenging Barr. Mimiy Ikpeazu. They put their political ambition before the good of the people.
Come the D-day, electorates in Onitsha North Constituency 1 will make a statement. I am convinced a time has come when candidates will be judged by what they have offered to constituents and Nigerians before declaring interest in any political office.
This is no longer the era of fake promises – promises of what will be done after taking over office will not be the criteria for our support. The support of Onitsha North Constituency 1 will be based on what you have done.
In Onitsha North Constituency 1, the people will vote based on character, output, role in society, influence, and prior scorecard. We don’t need politicians in this race. What we need is someone who shares in our struggle, sorrow, and downtime.
Election time has come, and from different places, you all have unleashed—to tell us stories and lies. To tell us how you would become what you can never be. To tell us how if elected, you would become the Mimiy Ikpeazu the people deserve.
Pardon, even if you all will not surrender for the good of the people, the people will fight to make sure their prayer for a friend, a humane candidate, a candidate driven by effort to put a smile on their faces is elected to further brighten their smiles.
Fortunately for the people, nobody can be Mimiy Ikpeazu. There is one and only Mimiy Ifeoma Azikiwe, and she is here for the people as always.
