Military authorities in Nigeria said it’s troops have successfully captured Abubakar Ibrahim, also known as Habu Dogo, a wanted bandit leader, during recent operations in Sokoto State.
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, in a statement said Dogo was taken into custody at Rumji Village in Sokoto’s Illela Local Government Area.
He is reportedly on the watchlist of security agencies both in Nigeria and neighboring Niger Republic, due to his involvement in cross-border terrorist activities.
Also, in another clearance operation in the South-East region, Buba said troops arrested seven suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
He said among those detained were key IPOB/ESN figures, including Dr. Nnamdi Chukwudoze and Chigozie Ezetoha, also known as “Chapet,” who were apprehended in Anambra’s Ihiala Local Government Area.
“Others include Mrs. Ngozi Chukwuka and Mr. Oyekachi Ohia, who were arrested in Abia’s Umuahia South Local Government Area,” he stated.
Additional arrests were made in Umunneochi, Abia, where Mr. Ifeanyi Eze, Mr. Augustine Udemba, and Mr. Onyedikachi Udemba were detained. Another suspect, Elijah Mmaduipeya Obumneke, was apprehended in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.
Buba stressed that ongoing counter-insurgency and anti-terrorism operations continue to diminish the combat capabilities of terrorist groups nationwide.
