Earlier, at about 12:50 a.m. on Thursday, troops working alongside local vigilantes and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) ambushed suspected terrorists at Gwadale deserted village along the Ngoshe–Kirawa road in Adamawa State.

According to sources, the insurgents were intercepted while transporting logistics supplies.

Troops engaged them with heavy gunfire, resulting in the neutralisation of one suspect, while others reportedly fled with possible gunshot wounds.

Subsequent exploitation of the area led to the recovery of one carton of detergent and a bag of salt believed to be intended for terrorist logistics support. The troops later returned to their Forward Operating Base in Pulka at about 2:30 a.m.
