Troops invade IPOB camp , arrest members, informants in S’East

The Nigerian military’s Operation UDO KA has made significant strides in dismantling separatist terror networks in the South-East, particularly targeting the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
In a series of intelligence-led operations conducted between June 26 and July 10, 2025, across Anambra and Imo states, troops have arrested multiple members of IPOB/ESN, including logistics operatives and informants ¹.
On July 2, 2025, troops tracked and arrested a suspected sponsor and logistic supplier to the notorious Mother Valley IPOB/ESN camp in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The suspect was found with Four Point of Sale (POS) machines, Two mobile phones, N250,600 in cash, believed to be part of funds used to finance separatist operations
Further operations led to the arrest of four additional suspected IPOB/ESN members and informants across Ihiala LGA in Anambra and Ehime Mbano LGA in Imo State.
These suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to expose the wider network of collaborators and financiers behind violent agitations in the region.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj-Gen. Markus Kangye, reaffirmed that Operation UDO KA remains focused on neutralizing hostile elements exploiting secessionist propaganda to destabilize communities.
The Armed Forces of Nigeria are resolute in restoring peace, dismantling criminal syndicates, and protecting citizens across the country.
These arrests are part of a broader effort to disrupt IPOB/ESN’s operations in the South-East.
In recent months, Operation UDO KA has recorded significant victories against separatist insurgents, including neutralizing IPOB/ESN Strongholds.
Troops have flushed out members of IPOB/ESN from their long-established stronghold in Orsumoghu, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Troops have intercepted large caches of ammunition destined for IPOB/ESN, including 164,000 live cartridges in a coordinated operation with the Department of State Services (DSS).

According to the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj-Gen. Markus Kangye, the arrests followed on-going intelligence-led operations across Anambra and Imo states between 26 June and 10 July 2025.
Further operations led to the arrest of four additional suspected IPOB/ESN members and informants across Ihiala LGA in Anambra and Ehime Mbano LGA in Imo State.
The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to expose the wider network of collaborators and financiers behind violent agitations in the region.
The Defence Headquarters said the success of the operations reflects the Nigerian military’s resolve to eliminate terrorist threats and restore peace in the Southeast.
Gen. Kangye reaffirmed that Operation UDO KA remains focused on neutralising hostile elements exploiting secessionist propaganda to destabilize communities.
“The Armed Forces of Nigeria remain resolute in restoring peace, dismantling criminal syndicates, and protecting citizens across the country,” he stated.
