The Nigerian military’s Operation Hadin Kai has successfully repelled a coordinated attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters on a Forward Operating Base in Mairari, Borno State.
The attack, which occurred on December 12-13, 2025, was thwarted by troops who detected and neutralized two Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices.
According to a statement issued by the army, several attackers were killed, and others injured, as they attempted to breach the base.
Also, the military conducted an extensive operation, discovering multiple terrorist casualties and seizing weapons, ammunition, and logistics.
Items recovered include AK-47 rifles, magazines, ammunition, PKT rounds, hand grenades, motorcycles, and medical supplies.
The operation was carried out by Sector 3 troops, the Theatre Command Quick Reaction Group, the Nigeria Police Crack Team, and the Civilian Joint Task Force.
The military said it remain committed to defeating terrorist elements in the North East, prioritizing civilian protection and peace restoration.
