Trump Calls Medvedev a Failure, Sparks US-Russia War Tensions

US President Donald Trump has reignited global tensions once again after branding the Russian and Indian economies as “dead.”

He made the comments on Wednesday, July 30, on his Truth Social platform, shortly after Dmitry Medvedev’s warning of a potential war between the US and Russia.

Trump, who is pushing for a 25% tariff on Indian imports, further lashed out at both nations.

“I don’t care what India does with Russia. They can take their dead economies down together,” he wrote bluntly.

He also emphasized that the United States shares little trade with either country. “India’s tariffs are among the highest in the world. We’ve done very little business with them,” he stated.

Moreover, Trump added that Russia and the US also barely trade.

Medvedev, Russia’s former president, had earlier warned the United States against issuing ultimatums over the Ukraine war. On his official X handle, he said Trump’s threats could spiral into direct conflict.

“Russia isn’t Israel or Iran,” Medvedev warned. “Each new ultimatum is a step towards war with America.”

In response, Trump hit back quickly. He called Medvedev “a failed former president” who should “watch his words.”

He said Medvedev was entering “very dangerous territory.”

Meanwhile, beyond Russia, Trump turned his focus toward India’s military and energy ties.

He noted that India continues to purchase most of its weapons and energy from Russia. “India is Russia’s biggest energy buyer, alongside China,” Trump wrote.

He pointed out this alliance continues even as the world urges Russia to end the war in Ukraine.

“India may be our friend,” Trump added, “but they’ve made trade with them unbearable. In fact, their barriers are the most obnoxious worldwide.”

Trump’s escalating rhetoric comes as he prepares for a potential 2024 election rematch against President Joe Biden.

He has increasingly criticized global trade dynamics and revived his tough-tariff stance, especially toward India and China.

The latest clash with Medvedev reveals growing tension in US-Russia relations.

Nevertheless, Trump’s direct jab at India adds a new layer to the drama, especially given India’s strategic ties with both the West and Moscow.

As a result, observers worry that Trump’s sharp words could hurt fragile alliances and strain diplomatic relations.

His return to campaign-style messaging marks a volatile period in global politics, with war and trade at the center.
