United States President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran, giving the country 48 hours to strike a deal on reopening the Strait of Hormuz or face severe consequences.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said time was running out, warning that “all hell” would break loose if Iran failed to comply within the deadline.
The ultimatum follows earlier threats made on March 21, when Trump vowed to “obliterate” Iran’s power infrastructure if it did not fully reopen the crucial oil transit route.
However, he briefly softened his stance days later, citing “productive conversations” with Iranian officials and delaying potential military action.
Despite the temporary pause, the renewed warning signals escalating tensions, with the Strait of Hormuz a key global oil corridor remaining at the centre of the standoff.
Experts have cautioned that any attack on civilian energy facilities could amount to a war crime, raising further concerns about the potential fallout of the crisis.
