The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended two suspects allegedly involved in the brutal kidnapping and murder of  Ifeoma Esther Onyekwelu, a female bank manager in Onitsha, who was killed after her family paid a ransom of N14 million.

The victim, Ifeoma, was abducted in Onitsha, Anambra State, Southeast Nigeria, in early January 2025 and held captive for several days before her family was contacted for ransom.

Despite the payment of 14 million Naira ransom, her lifeless body was discovered on January 13, 2025, along Nnobi Road, with her eyes bound—a grim indication of her ordeal.

After months of investigation, police operatives tracked and arrested Monday Egbe (32) and Kenneth Nnoga (28) on May 28, 2025, in a hideout in a neighboring state.

The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to uncover the modus operandi of their criminal gang and identify other accomplices.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrests and reiterated the command’s commitment to justice.

“The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has assured that the command will continue to protect lives and properties and ensure all cases are followed to a logical conclusion,” Ikenga stated.
